Russian Language Day: What is the best Android app to Learn Russian for 2018 World Cup
Learning languages is something everybody should be encouraged to do. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a native English speaker or not, there are tons of benefits to learning different languages other than the one you were born into speaking. Of course there’s only one language to learn right now: Russian!
That’s because of the 2018 World Cup which is being hosted in Russia. As such, learning Russian could prove to be incredibly helpful (especially to people who are travelling out there to watch the games). Along with learning key phrases, we’ve also included an app to help you learn the Cyrillic alphabet, because being able to read road signs, shop items and everything else is incredibly important.
Duolingo: Learn Languages Free
First on our list has to be the one and only Duolingo. This app is absolutely amazing when it comes to language learning and the educational tool also supports Russian. Yay! The app itself makes learning very fun and doesn’t come across as a burden or a tedious thing. You get to talk, type and memorize phrases and words that progressively increase in difficulty and complexity. We highly recommend Duolingo to anybody who wants to learn a language.
HelloTalk Learn Languages Free
Next we have HelloTalk. This niche app is designed as a way of helping two parties out. Those parties include yourself and someone else who wants to learn your language. It acts as a social entity that will match you up with, in this instance, a native Russian speaker that wants to learn English for example. You talk to them, they talk to you. You learn your language and vice versa. It’s not ideal if you’re a literal beginner with no knowledge, but if you know some stuff it’s perfect for brushing up your skills and improving your spoken word.
Learn languages Free – Mondly
Mondly is a great resource for learning Russian although it does have one downside – to access a lot of the features you need to pay a subscription. That being said, the free version does come packaged in a way that will definitely help you start learning Russian. And if you’re willing to fork over your money, it can be very effective as a learning tool.
Memrise – Learn Any Language
Fourth on our list is Memrise. This app offers a very fun way of learning. It includes vocabulary, grammar and conversational features to help you learn and improve all aspects of the language you’re learning. The downside is that there is a monthly or yearly subscription needed in order to get the most out of the app.
Cyrillic (Russian Alphabet)
Lastly we have Cyrillic. This app is a very simple but effective tool that allows you to slowly learn the alphabet that is used in Russia. You might not be aware of the fact they use a completely different alphabet to in the States (or a lot of Western countries) so learning the Cyrillic alphabet is a must. The app has quizzes and is the perfect side kick to any of the other apps mentioned above.
