How to childproof your Android?

If you spend time looking after children, whether you are the parent, grandparent or aunt and uncle, then you already know that there is nothing quite as efficient as a smartphone or tablet to keep them occupied. Especially, during a flight or a long car journey for your long deserved holidays.

Even though there is a huge variety of applications and educational games aimed specifically for younger audiences, some children are still curious enough to explore apps and features that they aren’t allowed to go on. They can unintentionally get you in trouble not only by accessing apps that may not be appropriate for them but also by deleting vital apps or information from your device.
The solution is to childproof your device, here are three tips to make your Android safe for tiny fingers:
1. If your device is running Android Lollipop simply access the mobile settings menu and add a new account. There are 3 types of Lollipop accounts: Guest, User and Profile.  Profile account is ideal for parents who want to limit access to apps and services to children. When setting up a Profile account you’re able to enable (or disable) apps and services such as Google search. That way, whenever you lend your smartphone to a child they will only have access to applications available under that account.

2. Another alternative is to use the function “Screen Pinning” , which allows you to limit access to just one application. To activate it, simply access the settings menu, ” Security “and” Screen Pinning “. Don’t forget to activate the function that blocks the PIN with a password, which makes it impossible for kids to switch between different apps or features.

3. If your smartphone or tablet is under the above functions, it will now run downloaded applications in Kids Mode with Parental Control options, which make the interface safe for children as well as your documents by limiting access  to children’s applications only.
Hopefully these tips might help, and if you do something different then let us know your techniques for keeping your device safe for kids to use!
