how-to-take-screenshot-on-androidBefore you start reading the tutorial, check the model and OS of your device. Why? Well, simply, taking a screenshot used to be a pain on older devices but is now fairly simple.

On devices operating with HoneyComb, Ice Cream Sandwich or Jelly Bean OS, the screen capture is quite easy. However, if your device is an Android 2.3 or lower, the method to give a print screen is a bit more complex.

So, let’s get to it! Here are various ways you can take a screenshot on your Android device:

Screenshot on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or higher:

  • Method 1

1. Select the screen you want to capture.
2. Press the volume down button and the power button simultaneously.
3. Hold the buttons for 1-2 seconds until you hear the snap and visual indication of the picture being taken.
4. After, click on the icon that appears at the top of the display indicating that the screen was captured.

  • Method 2

Some phones, which have a physical home button, such as Samsung Galaxy S or Galaxy Nore, offer varied alternative ways to take a screenshot:

1. Select the screen you want to capture.
2. Press the HOME button and the POWER button or HOME button and the BACK button at the same time.

  • Method 3

Some of the newer devices such as Galaxy S6 with motion capture allow you to take a screenshot with a swipe of your hand:

1. First, make sure you have activated Motion Functionality on your device: Settings —> Motions and Gestures —> Palm swipe capture
2. Swipe the edge of your hand across the screen from right to left
