4 Ways to Transfer your contacts from iPhone to Android
Transferring contacts from one phone to another used to mean typing them in one by one over the course of a day or two. However thanks to the evolution of smartphones today it couldn’t be easier. Here are four of the easiest methods to transfer your contacts from iPhone to your Android device.
Method 1: Google Mail Account
Every Android device needs a Google Account to really make the most of it. You can set one up either on your device or using a laptop or computer. Once that’s done head over to your iPhone and navigate through your “Settings” menu to the “Mail –> Contacts –> Calendar” section. From here you just need to “Add Account” and enter your Gmail login information. After this you’ll be asked what you want to sync, make sure the “Contacts” option is selected and away you go. Your iPhone will start to sync with your Android, which can take awhile depending on how many contacts you have, but as long as you stay connected online all of your contacts will move over.
Method 2: Transfer With iCloud
This is a really easy method if you already have iCloud enabled on your iPhone. Simply go to “Settings –> Mail –> Contacts –> Calendars” and then find the “Accounts” option. You should see “iCloud” listed so choose this and turn on the toggle for “Contacts”. You’ll be asked to merge your contacts with iCloud. After this has finished, log into icloud.com from your computer with your Apple ID and select “Contacts”.
There should be a little wheel in the bottom-left hand corner, click that and then “Select All”. Click the wheel again and find “Export vCard“. From here you want to log into gmail.com and find the “Mail” button. Then “Contacts –> More –> Import –> Choose File”. Then just choose your vCard file. If you end up with duplicates after the process just navigate to the “Find & Merge duplicates” button with will be under the “More” option.
Method 3: Transfer using iTunes
If your contacts are stored locally or if you’re using a different account other than Gmail, you can transfer your contacts using iTunes on your Windows or Mac computer. First off you’ll want to connect your iPhone to your computer and open iTunes. Then click “iPhone” in the top right-hand corner of the screen. Open the Info tab, then just check the box next to “Sync Contacts with” and find “Google Contacts” from the options you’re offered. Simply enter your Google Account information and wait for it to finish syncing.
Method 4: Third Party Application
If for whatever reason none of the above methods have been successful for you, then you can opt to use a third-party app such as PhoneSwappr which is a great tool to sync your contacts. You simply need to install the app, open it up and select “Send Contacts to Cloud” and write down the PIN it gives you. Then install the app on your Android and choose “Get Contacts from Cloud” and enter the PIN. After a few minutes, you should have them all on your new Android device.
