How to use the new Snapchat features

HOw-to-use-Snapchat

Snapchat came out of the blue as a way of sending quick ‘snaps’ to friends that could only be seen for a set number of seconds. Since its arrival, it has grown massively and is now rumored to be adding audio messaging and video features which would set it on course to rival Facebook Messenger.

With each new update, new features are being added making Snapchat a great tool for socialites to have, but for those of us who might not be too tech savvy it can be a little difficult to understand each new feature. Well worry no more, we’ve broken down some of the core new features and will help explain how to use them so keep reading below to discover the magic of Snapchat and the social options that await.

Lenses:

These magically little beauties have taken Snapchat by storm. You simply need to take tap your face and you’ll see a mesh appear over it, then you can select which lens you want to use and send the snap to your friends. Some require you to open your mouth so that some fun animation can occur. They are a lot of fun and add a slice of personality to your snaps. You can even swap faces, which has led to some hilarious photos hitting social media.  As it stands a new lens is added regularly but with each new one that appears, another one disappears so you might find your favorite lens becomes hidden.

Stories:

Stories are one of the core features Snapchat has. A collection of the photos and videos that you’ve taken during a 24 hour period are displayed as a story. Your friends can watch these over and over and now they can reply to them. When watching a ‘story’ you simply need to swipe upwards from the bottom when a specific picture of a video is on-screen to reply to that part of the story. It makes it a lot easier than having to explain what part you are actually talking about (which is what you had to do before).

Slow Motion and Rewind:

Want a cool video to share with your fellow snappers? Well, now you can create them with the option to add rewinding and slow motion features. Once you’ve recorded your video you need to swipe left or right on the screen to bring up the option to add one of these to your masterpiece. Experiment and have fun with them as you can make some really cool looking videos.

Skip a Story or Snap:

If you’re getting overwhelmed with stories from a particular friend then you can decide to skip them. All you need to do is hold down with one finger to view a snap and then tap anywhere with another finger to skip to the next one.
