Best Games You Can Play Without a WiFi Connection!
Smartphones and Android tablets are wonderful pieces of technology. They let us connect with friends from all over the world, we can share our lives on social media, we can find our way if we’re lost and even have special apps to keep us safe if anything happens to us.
Above all we have an endless, constantly expanding selection of games to play. Over the years games have evolved and changed as the market has. Games used to be simplistic creations, usually paid for and after around 5 hours of gameplay you’d be satisfied and move on to something else. Today games are primarily free, riddled with ads and can be excruciatingly complex.
Alto’s Adventure
Alto’s Adventure is a luxury to play. I could stop there because it’s a fantastic game. Graphically it is stunning, with an elegant blend of dark and light colors that intertwine to create something magical. The gameplay runs smooth and balanced and it keeps you playing despite its simple mechanics. Basically, you are a snowboarder, racing down mountains and jumping through the skies. You’ll collect coins and accomplish goals as you overcome obstacles and work through the missions and if you haven’t played it already, you should download it right now (or maybe read the rest of this article first…).
Note: While this game is perfectly playable offline, you do need to be connected to spend your coins on upgrades. You don’t lose any extra gameplay aspects though and any coins you earn are saved until you connect.
Swamp Attack
Want some good old fun? Swamp Attack is the answer. If you love the whole ‘defend your tower‘ kind of strategy games then this is for you. You basically have a swamp which is being attacked by zombie animals. You’ll have to use an arsenal of weapons to kill them and stop them invading your home. As you play and work through the stages you’ll be able to purchase new weapons and special items which you can use to help you on your quest. The graphics are great, cartoony and fun and it doesn’t get boring (unless you play it for hours and hours at a time). If you want to lose some hours of your day then Swamp Attack should be pending download already.
You Must Build A Boat
You Must Build a Boat might not sound like a very creative name, but the game itself is absolutely amazing. The pixel-style graphics suit it perfectly and feel like you’re playing an old-school point-and-click PC game. It has everything you’d want from a game. You start off with this feeble looking boat that you have to travel the world in. As you play you’ll battle creatures which you can catch (similar to how you’d catch Pokemon in the old Gameboy days). You’ll upgrade you boat as you progress on your adventure, turning into a vessel that shouldn’t be reckoned with as you fill it with new crew members. To top it off, you’ll find yourself in randomly generated dungeons with Candy Crush style elements. It’s simply one of the most addictive and enjoyable games you’ll find yourself playing.
BADLAND
Fourth on our list is Badland. Again the graphics are mesmerizing, the gameplay is fluid and it’s extremely enjoyable to play. Your character is a small round little creature who navigates the world avoiding traps. As you progress through the game you’ll be finding out what is causing so much damage to your world. Be warned, it’s addictive and you’ll quickly notice the clock go from 1pm to 3pm in the blink of an eye. To make things better, the screen is constantly moving to the right so you have no choice but to keep moving in order to survive. It’s had hundreds of thousands of downloads and requires no In-App-Purchases to enjoy.
LIMBO
Alas, we’ve reached our final entry. But don’t be sad, if you’ve downloaded the above 4 games then you’ll be giving yourself hours of entertainment. The last on our list is Limbo. This platform adventure game has had people raving about it for all the right reasons. In case you hadn’t noticed a theme here, it’s also absolutely stunning to look at. Graphically it is perfect, everything compliments everything else and it all transpires into this wonderful design. You play as a child who is lost in limbo in search of his sister. On your journey you’ll be faced with different puzzles you’ll need to solve and there will be all sorts of different obstacles for you to overcome and avoid. It’s a great game that requires you to use your wits to stay alive. Lose your life and you’ll find yourself right back at the beginning…**Queue the ominous music**
So there you have 5 wonderful games to enjoy without a WiFi connection. Try them all and I guarantee you’ll enjoy them. Now I know there are so many more fantastic games to play offline so if you play something truly amazing then let us know what it is in the comments so everyone can discover it too.
Oh…and if you decide you’re bored of the above apps already…check out our article tomorrow which discusses the new fad which is Pokemon Go…you’ll never have been so active.
