5 best Virtual Reality apps and games for Android
There’s no doubt about it. Virtual Reality is the next big thing. It’s kind of been on the horizon for a while now but with headsets such as the PlayStation VR and Oculus Rift, it’s very much been solidified as the thing to get excited about. Google Cardboard however is incredibly affordable, especially when compared with the alternatives on the market.
As such we thought it only fair to share with you some of the best apps and games available for your Virtual Reality headset. Please note that most of the games below do require a Bluetooth game pad to play them.
Chair In A Room
First on our list is Chair In A Room. This game combines a dark story line and a hidden item puzzle game to produce a Virtual Reality game that’s a lot of fun. It really helps showcase a lot of what VR is capable of on Android. You do need a relatively high-end Android device (at least a Nexus 5) but if you can, play this game for an unforgettable experience.
InMind VR (Cardboard)
What could be more fun than exploring the neural pathways of somebody’s brain? Exactly, not a lot! Your job is to enter the brain and then neutralize physical abnormalities to improve the health of said brain. This is one of the few games that doesn’t require a game pad and you can even play it without VR if you really want…although that will eliminate a lot of the fun. It’s completely free to play and is one of the most popular VR games available.
End Space VR for Cardboard
End Space VR isn’t free, however don’t let the very small price tag put you off. It’s a very decent game to play that pits you in space, in a cockpit no less, taking on bad guys throughout different flights across the galaxy. It can theoretically go on forever, so you get a lot of value for the dollar it’ll cost you and boasts some of the best VR graphics. You can even upgrade your ship to survive against the stronger waves of enemies that come for your blood.
AAA VR Cinema Cardboard 3D SBS
Next up we have an app which steers away from the gaming aspect and into the movie world. The concept is that the app allows you to watch any locally stored videos on your device. Simply put the clip or video onto your device, run it through the app and then enjoy the 180-degree and 360-degree freedom you get. It’s a must-have app to try out Google Cardboard properly and adds a new way to enjoy media content.
Expeditions
Lastly we have Expeditions. This app, while originally designed for education purposes, can be used for practically any purpose you want. There are over 200 expeditions that you can explore, which will see you visiting landmarks and loads of cool places scattered around the world. You can also use it without Cardboard, although by using it you can feel fully immersed within the environments you find yourself in.
