How to get rid of or disable pre-installed apps!
Our smartphones might be smart, but that doesn’t save them from being swamped with apps that are pre-installed on them. The trouble with these pre-installed apps is that many of them are relatively useless to us, as we have our own preferences in what apps we want to use for what service.
The good news is that many of these apps can be uninstalled, or at least disabled, to allow our devices to improve their performance, enhance battery life and increase the amount of memory space they have. Some apps can’t be uninstalled, as this would cause your device to malfunction and become inoperable, others might just prevent other apps from working properly, and some have no lasting effect at all. Read on to discover how to remove or disable those pesky apps that consume your memory and CPU.
Disabling or Uninstalling Your Apps
First things first, if you’ve physically installed any apps onto your device from the Play Store, then these aren’t classed as pre-installed and can easily be removed by finding the app on the Play Store and tapping uninstall. For those apps which are already installed on your device when you purchase it, the first thing you should do is head over to your “Settings“.
From here, navigate to your apps/application menu and you’ll get a list off all the apps that are currently on your device. Simply tap on any app and it’ll bring up the information about that specific one. Some will have the option to “Uninstall“, and if this is an option then simply tap it, confirm the action and within a few seconds it’ll be eradicated from your Android.
Others won’t have the option to uninstall, either because they could be classed as important to the running of the device, or because the manufacturers have made it impossible to remove them. Most of these apps however will have a “Disable” option instead of the “Uninstall”. Simply tap this and the apps will be disabled from your device. They’ll no longer be updated and will no longer operate in the background, feeding off of your RAM and thus will improve the performance of your device. If your Android is running particularly slow, especially compared to when you first got it, then consider reading this post about how to speed up your Android device.
Now, it’s important that you don’t disable or remove any apps that are heavily relied upon for your device to function, such as Google Play Services. If you google your device and dependable apps, then you should find a list of the ones you should leave well alone.
There you have it, a simple way to remove or disable those pesky pre-installed apps. You can also find tools that can help with the process, although unless you have hundreds upon hundreds of apps, a tool isn’t really necessary.
