5 reasons why Google Play Store is better than Apple App Store!
Google and Apple are two absolute giants in the technology world, and they both have their own pros and cons and it just so happens that the pros of one appeal to a certain audience, and the pros of the other cater for the other audience. Trying to figure out which one is better would be an impossible task, however we can try and determine what the Google Play Store does better than its Apple competitor.
Obviously everything below is my own opinion, and there will be iOS fans who disagree, and maybe some who agree, just as there might be some Android fans who disagree. Either way, I’m not trying to slate Apple in any way, this is just a post trying to determine the benefits of the Google Play Store, so without further ado…
- Google Play Has More Variety
The Google Play Store has a lot more to offer to users than the iOS store. This is mainly down to the fact Apple have such strict rules and approval standards that it’s a lot harder to develop for them. The Google Play Store on the other hand has an abundance of apps ready at your fingertips. This has it’s downside too, of course, as you’ll discover a lot of low quality apps that just aren’t on iOS because they’d be rejected. Due to the Google Play Store having a much easier system when it comes to uploading apps, you’ll find many different variations of one app, with slightly different features and styles, which can only be a good thing for users.
- Google Play Provides a lot More Freedom For Developers
Linked with the above point, the Google Play Store is a lot more relaxed when it comes to the process involved with developers uploading their apps. Rather than having a lengthy review process, which may or may not result in rejection, meaning the developer has to continue working on their app (which is the case with iOS), the Google Play Store takes a couple of hours and more often than not will be accepted provided it doesn’t contain inappropriate content.
This makes it a lot easier for developers to experiment with new ideas, features and apps as they can easily get a response from the public to see what worked well and what was a failure, without needing to wait a month to submit an update.
- Android Apps are Cheaper
You’ll find that iOS apps are more expensive than those on Android. This is in part due to them being higher quality (because of the strict regulations and vigorous review process involved) and also because there isn’t as much competition to drive prices down.
On Android however, one app or tool could have one hundred different variations. This means that it’s in the developers best interest to be cheap, or offer the app for free. An obvious downside your Android developers here is of course, monetization is much more difficult. Apps that are free tend to need adverts to provide some sort of income, which can anger users. However, the cheaper price point is something a lot of users have come to expect, and in turn expect advertisements as the cost.
- It’s Easier to Find Android Apps
Nobody really knows the true in’s and out’s of how the search algorithms work on Google or iOS, however the things we do know point to the fact it is easier to discover an app on the Android platform. This is because iOS only targets specific keywords during a search. So if you’re looking for something specific, it can be hard to find it. On the Google Play Store on the other hand, every single word within the text description is searched and if a word matches your search term(s) then the apps will be displayed within your results. This isn’t at all surprising though given that Google is the leading search engine and is an absolute giant when it comes to that sort of thing.
- Google Play Provides an Easier Web Platform
If you load up both the Google Play Store and the iOS Store in a web browser, you’ll more than likely manage just fine without too much inconvenience. That said however, if you were browsing the web and found a link that directed you to a game or app on the Google Play Store, you could read up on it, tap install and select the device you want to install it on. From there, it’ll be automatically installed on that device. Apple on the other hand, would require you to manually search on your device for anything that tickles your fancy. It isn’t a huge deal, but a lot of Android users appreciate and use the simplicity offered with this system.
