We know, we know. Why would you possibly want an alternative app to Facebook? Why not just use the official app in all of its glory. Well mainly because it uses a lot of data, takes up a lot of memory and absolutely drinks the juice from your battery. But as Facebook is one of the biggest social media platforms in the world, you probably don’t want to stop using it.

That’s why we’ve scoured the web and came out unscathed. We’ve put together a list of apps that will let you continue to use Facebook but without using all of your phones resources. Most of this is done by something called a ‘wrapper’. What this means is that the app essentially mimics the mobile version of Facebook. It wraps it into an Android application and thus saves lots of memory space.

  1. Facebook Lite

    Facebook Lite

The most notable mention for you would the be official Facebook Lite application. It’s the closest thing to the full app that you’ll find except it’s been slightly stripped down. It uses less data and still lets you access most of the normal features that are available. It’s also compatible with the Messenger communication app too.

  2. Hermit • Lite Apps Browser

Hermit is a wrapper app for Facebook but compared to other wrappers that are out there this one stands out from the crowd. It not only provides a lightweight version of Facebook but you can ‘wrap’ pretty much any website including WhatsApp and Instagram. You can also customize your interface and save your favorite sites within in the app.

  3. Swipe for Facebook Pro

Next up we have Swipe for Facebook. It is packed with features and supports Facebook Messenger, has ad blocker built into it, can support over 30 languages and has different theme options. It uses a lot less resources than the official Facebook app and comes with multiple different layouts that you can choose from. The free version only offers you a few of the features though so if you want to full package then you’ll need to pay for the pro version.

  4. Friendly for Facebook

    Friendly for Facebook

Friendly for Facebook is very lightweight and is very simple. It lets you manage your Facebook account easily and you can even filter out posts through keywords meaning you can remove a lot of the rubbish you don’t really want to waste your time with. It also has options to add password support along with being able to use multiple accounts.

  5. Metal for Facebook & Twitter

    Metal for Facebook & Twitter

Last up we have Metal for Facebook. It lets you browse quickly and comes with a great user interface. You can block adverts, uses a lot less RAM and data consumption. Other than the official Facebook Lite app, Metal for Facebook will probably provide you with the closest experience to the real app.
