How to make group video calls on WhatsApp
WhatsApp is an unstoppable communication app that never seems to slow down with updates and new features. One of the newest things to be added to WhatsApp – potentially – is the ability to make group video calls. We’ll get into how to do it in a mo, and we’ll cover why it’s a ‘potential’ new feature rather than a definite thing.
Now we’re sure you’re scratching your head and wondering how that makes any sense at all – but it all comes down to the version of WhatsApp you have and whether an update is available to you.
Making Video Calls
The feature is still pretty much in a beta phase so it’s not accessible to the whole world, however the best thing to do would be to see if you have an update you can apply to the app. If you do then you might be in luck. If you don’t; then you might have to wait for the team behind the social giant to roll it out properly.
If you’re running the latest possible version then it’s very simple to see if you can take advantage of this feature.
- Open up WhatsApp
- Tap on a conversation that you’d like to have involved in the video call
- Initiate a video chat by tapping on the icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen
- If you’re able to have group chats, there’ll be another icon in the corner which will allow you to add additional contacts
That’s it. That’s all there is to it. You simply tap that icon and then tap on the people you want to join the chat. Presently it’s only possible to video chat with up to four people at a time although we’re sure this will change in the future.
If you find that you can’t update your app (or even if you can) but there’s still no option to make group video chats then unfortunately it’s just a case of waiting and hoping it doesn’t take too long to find its way to you.
