How to Find Someone on TikTok without Knowing their Username

TikTok allows users to follow each other on the platform. The more people you follow on TikTok; the more content you get to view. The easiest way to follow someone on TikTok is by searching for their username. But what happens if you do not know the username of the person you want to search, or if the person you want to search has changed their username?

There are other alternative methods that you can use to find someone on TikTok without using their usernames. These alternative methods make use of tools and other information that is available within the TikTok app. This piece highlights how you can find someone on TikTok without knowing their username.

Find Someone Using their QR code

Every TikTok user has a unique QR code (TikCode) linked to their account. The QR code can be scanned on TikTok to display the profile of a user.

To scan someone else’s TikTok QR code:

• Launch TikTok

• Tap the Discover icon that is located at the bottom of the page

• On the page that appears, tap the icon that is next to the search bar located at the top of the page

• Grant TikTok access to your mobile device’s camera.

• Scan your friend’s QR code directly from their phone’s screen.

• You’ll be shown your friend’s Tik Tok profile. Tap the Follow button

Find Someone on TikTok Using your Phone Contacts

TikTok allows users to sync their phone contacts with the app. This allows users to follow TikTok users that are on their contact list. If you do not know your friend’s TikTok username, you can find them by searching in your phone contacts.

To find someone on TikTok using your phone’s contact list:

• Launch TikTok

• Tap the Profile icon located at the bottom right of the screen

• On the page that appears, tap the icon at the top left.

• Tap Find Contacts on the next page that appears

Find Someone on TikTok Using your Facebook Friends’ List

Just like for phone contacts, TikTok also allows you to sync your Facebook friends on the app. You can then follow your Facebook friends who are also on TikTok. To find someone of TikTok using your Facebook Friends’ list:

• Launch TikTok

• Tap the Profile icon located at the bottom right of the screen

• On the next page that appears, tap the icon at the top left

• Select Find Facebook Friends on the next page

• Tik Tok will prompt you to sign in to Facebook. Tap Continue

• Sign in to Facebook

• Tik Tok will now show you a list of your Facebook friends who are on the app.

• Tap Follow next to users you’d like to add.
