How to Hide Last Seen and Online Status on Instagram
Almost all social media platforms have taken privacy issues seriously. Social media platforms including WhatsApp, Facebook, and also Instagram are constantly updating their privacy settings to allow users to protect themselves against privacy-related attacks.
Just like on WhatsApp, Instagram launched the Last Seen and Online status feature. The feature allows Instagram users to know when other users are online and when last they accessed the platform. By default, the last seen and online status features on Instagram are always on. However, Instagram users can choose to hide their last seen and online status. In a previous related article, we discussed how to hide your WhatsApp last seen status from some people. This piece highlights how Instagram users can hide their last seen and online status.
To hide the last seen and online status on Instagram:
- Ensure that your Instagram app is updated to the latest version
- Launch the Instagram app by tapping on its icon
- While on the launch page, tap the profile icon located on the bottom right side of the screen
- While on the profile page, tap the three horizontal bars located at the top right side of the screen
- On the pop-up menu that appears, tap Settings
- On the page that appears, find Privacy and tap on it
- Under Privacy, find Activity status and tap on it
- On the page that appears, turn off the toggle button next to Show activity status
- Your last seen and online status will automatically be hidden.
