How to Know if your WhatsApp is Monitored by Someone

Cyber Security and privacy issues have been a major concern for most social media platforms including WhatsApp. Many account hacking and monitoring cases on WhatsApp have been reported over time. Malicious people may use spy apps or other sophisticated techniques to gain access to and monitor your WhatsApp account.

Is it possible to know if someone is monitoring your WhatsApp account? Well, there is no direct way to know if your WhatsApp account is being monitored. However, some signs can make you know that you are being monitored. These signs are discussed in this piece. In a previous related article, we discussed on how to know if your Instagram app has been hacked and how to solve it.

Active WhatsApp Web Sessions that You Don’t Recognize

When you connect to WhatsApp Web on your computer, the details of the connection are recorded on your WhatsApp app. If you notice a connection that is not familiar to you, then more likely than not, someone is monitoring your account using a WhatsApp Web session.

You Have Been Logged Out of Your WhatsApp Account Without Requesting It

For another person to activate your WhatsApp account on another device, you have to be logged out of the current device. If you receive a message that WhatsApp has sent you an activation code, and you are not aware of it, then more likely than not, someone else is trying to gain access to your WhatsApp account.

Unusual Behavior on Your Device

In the event you notice that your device is behaving abnormally; like unauthorized apps have been installed, or some apps are opening by themselves, then someone may have installed malicious software to monitor your device.

Device Battery Draining Faster

When third-party or monitoring apps are installed on your device, they tend to consume more power as they work in the background. If you notice that your device has suddenly started to drain charge faster than normal, it might be that there is an app that is working in the background.
