How to Disable Screenshot on Telegram Group or Channel

How to Disable Screenshot on Telegram Group or Channel
Telegram has grown its popularity over the years across the globe due to its great functionality, security, and privacy features. With Telegram, users are guaranteed security and privacy when chatting on private chats, groups, and even channels.

One of the greatly appreciated Telegram privacy features is the ability to prevent other users from taking screenshots of chats in private chats, groups, and channels. How cool! By default, you can take screenshots of individual, group, or channel conversations on Telegram at any time. However, as a group or channel administrator, you can disable the screenshot feature to prevent members from taking screenshots of sensitive conversations.

As an individual user, you can begin a secret chat with an individual and activate self-destruct timers on messages. This means that the messages you send in the secret chat will automatically disappear after the set time elapses. It is also not possible to take a screenshot of a self-destruct message on Telegram. A previous article describes how you can send self-destructing messages on various Android apps, including Telegram. This piece highlights how you can disable screenshots on Telegram groups and channels.

To disable the screenshot feature on Telegram groups or Channels:

How to Disable Screenshot on Telegram Group or Channel

  • Launch the Telegram app by tapping on its icon
  • If you are already a group or channel administrator, find the group or channel chat from the launch page and tap on it. Otherwise, you will have to create a new group or channel where you become the administrator.
  • While on the individual group or channel chat, tap the group name that appears at the top of the page
  • On the page that appears, tap the pencil icon to edit the group information and settings
  • On the page that appears, tap on Group Type/Channel Type
  • Under the Group Settings/Channel Settings page that appears, scroll down to find “Restrict saving content.” Activate the toggle button next to it.
  • When the toggle button is on, members of the group or channel will not be able to copy, save, forward, or screenshot content from the group or channel.
