Telegram, like other social media platforms like Facebook and WhatsApp, allows users to join groups where group members can chat with each other simultaneously. Telegram groups can either be public or private. Public groups can be joined by anyone who has the group link or has searched for the group name and proceeded to join.

Private Telegram groups, on the other hand, are groups that have been created to accommodate only specific people that have the same interests, either family members or close friends. Private groups do not appear in the search results when searched meaning that people cannot join on their own. How then do you join a private group on Telegram? To join a private group on Telegram:

• For you to join a private Telegram group, you will have to receive and use the group’s invite link that has been shared with you by the administrator or a member of the group.

• After receiving the group’s link on your Telegram chat or any other external app, tap on it to open it

• You will be redirected to the private group’s page where you will be asked to join. Tap the Join button

• You will automatically join the group and proceed to chat as per the settings of the group.
