How to View Old Stories on Instagram

Instagram Stories have become a useful feature for users to share their daily moments, adventures, and thoughts with followers in a fun and engaging way. Instagram Stories usually disappear automatically after 24 hours and cannot be viewed again by viewers.

However, you may want to go back and view stories that you posted before. Is it possible to view old Instagram Stories? Yes, it is. Instagram offers a built-in archive feature that allows users to view and even reshare their old Stories.

The Instagram’s Stories archive feature is not enabled by default, so users need to activate it to start archiving their Stories. Once the archive feature is turned on, Instagram will automatically save your Stories after they expire, allowing you to access them later.

Whether you want to relive a special memory, revisit a momentous event, or share a past Story with new followers, accessing your archived Stories is straightforward. This piece highlights the steps to view your old Stories on Instagram. In a previous related article, we discussed saving WhatsApp status images and videos on Android.

To activate the Stories Archive feature on Instagram:

  • Ensure that your Instagram app has been updated to the latest app
  • Launch the Instagram app by tapping on its icon
  • Tap the profile icon located at the bottom right side of the launch page
  • While on the profile page, tap the three horizontal bars located at the top right side of the screen
  • On the menu that appears, tap on Archive
  • While on the archive page, tap the toggle button next to “Save story to archive” to turn it on. This means that your stories will be automatically saved after it expires.

To view your archived stories, visit the Archive page, and they will be displayed organized by date.
