How to Join a WhatsApp Call after it’s Already Started
Just recently, WhatsApp upgraded the group call feature to allow people to join group calls after missing the initial call. The new “joinable calls” feature, as it is referred to, comes as an advantage and gives WhatsApp a competitive advantage against other conferencing apps like Zoom and Google Teams which have the provision to allow a person to join a meeting after it has already begun.
A while ago, WhatsApp implemented group voice and video calls to the platform. The feature has been doing well and has been very helpful during the Coronavirus pandemic. The feature allows several people to have a voice or video call together.
The joinable calls feature on WhatsApp will remain encrypted end-to-end. Users can also see all those who are currently on the call via an integrated call info screen. This piece highlights how you can use the WhatsApp joinable call feature to join a call after its already started.
To join a WhatsApp call after it has already started:
- Upgrade your WhatsApp app to the latest version
- Launch WhatsApp by tapping on its icon
- While on WhatsApp, tap the CALLS tab on the top of the screen
- While on the CALLS page, Locate the group call that you wish to join. On that specific call, tap on it
- You will be redirected to a call info screen where you can see the other members already on the call.
- Tap the “Join” button that appears to join the call
