How to Add a Telegram Bot on Android

To enhance the experience of its users, Telegram has introduced bots within the app. You may wonder, what are bots? Bots are applications designed to integrate with other apps to improve functionality by following certain instructions and interacting with people using the apps.

Telegram has developed several bots that interact with people in certain capacities in groups. Telegram bots use artificial intelligence that is capable of performing various tasks including teaching, playing, searching, and integrating with other services.

There are many bots that can be added to Telegram. Each of these bots has specific functions in groups. How then do you add bots to Telegram groups? Telegram bots can only be added in groups by group administrators and they will be used within the specific groups that they have been added to. To add Telegram bots on Android:

  • Update your Telegram app to the latest version
  • Launch the Telegram app by tapping on its icon
  • While on the launch page, tap the Contacts icon located at the bottom right side of the screen
  • On the page that appears, use the search function at the top to search for the bot that you wish to add

  • On the search suggestions that appear, tap the name of the bot that you want

  • The bot will open a chat window. Tap the profile image of the bot to view the profile page of the bot

  • While on the profile page, tap the “Add to Group or Channel” button

  • On the next page that appears, choose the group that you want to add the bot to

  • Tap on the “Confirm” button to proceed
  • The bot will be added to your group of choice
