How to Find Channels on Telegram
Telegram is a well-known and commonly used social media platform across the globe. Just like other social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, Telegram also supports group collaboration through groups and channels.
Telegram groups can accommodate up to 200,000 users and members can send and receive messages and media files to each other. On the other hand, Telegram Channels bring an unlimited number of people together from across the globe on a platform that broadcasts messages on a particular topic; like sports or politics. In a previous related article, we discussed how you would create Telegram groups and channels.
Telegram channels are not meant for conversations and the messages are posted by the channel moderators. Telegram channels can be public where anyone with the link can join specific channels, or private where channel moderators have to accept your request to join the specific channels.
If for example, you wish to join a Telegram channel about soccer or betting tips, you will need to find the specific channels to join. How then do you find channels on Telegram? This piece highlights some of the ways that you would use to find Telegram channels.
Search for the Channel Name Directly on the Telegram App
Telegram has a search function that allows users to search for usernames, groups, or even channels. To find channels:
- Launch Telegram by tapping its icon
- Tap the search icon located at the top right side of the launch page
- If you have the name of the channel that you wish to join, type it in the search area that appears
- Several research results matching your query will appear. Just tap on the channel name that you want
- You will be redirected to the channel’s page
- Tap the JOIN button at the bottom of the page
Find Telegram Channels on the Internet
Most of the public Telegram channels advertise themselves on the Internet. Using the search engine on your browser, you can search for the keywords related to the Telegram channels that you wish to join topic. From the search results that will appear, you can get direct links to join the channels.
Find Telegram Channels Using a Forwarded Message
Public Telegram channels have a link that can be shared with anyone interested in joining the channel. If you have a friend in one of the channels that you wish to join, you can ask them to share the link with you. The link will redirect you to the channel’s page where you can join.
