How to Get WhatsApp Verification Code By Email
In a bid to improve security on WhatsApp, engineers have over the years come up with various security features to protect users. One of the most appreciated security measures is the two-factor authentication that allows users to receive and enter a six-digit code when re-registering their WhatsApp account again using their phone number.
Previously, the six-digit WhatsApp verification code was sent to users by SMS. However, if WhatsApp users want to re-register WhatsApp and do not have access to their number, it would be impossible to get the code. To curb this, WhatsApp has introduced a new verification method that allows users to receive the six-digit verification code by email.
With the new verification method, WhatsApp users can now choose to receive verification codes via their email addresses. A verification code will be sent to the user’s email where he/she can retrieve it and type it on the verification page. To receive verification code via email on WhatsApp, users need to have previously set up their email address on WhatsApp.
To set up your email address on WhatsApp:
- Update your WhatsApp app to the latest version
- Launch WhatsApp by tapping on its icon
- While on the launch page, tap the three vertical dots located at the top right side of the screen
- On the menu that appears, tap on Settings
- On the page that appears, tap on Account
- On the page that appears, tap on Email address
- Proceed to enter your email address in the space provided and tap the Done button
- A six-digit code will be sent to your email address
- Access your email and retrieve the code. Navigate back to WhatsApp and type the code in the space provided.
- The code will be verified and your email address will be added to your WhatsApp account.
The next time you wish to verify your WhatsApp account, after entering your phone number, you can choose to verify by Email as an alternative to receiving the code by SMS. The code will be sent to your email where you can retrieve and use it. In a previous related article, we discussed how to activate WhatsApp without a verification code.
