Best apps to watch the movies nominated for The Oscars!
With the Oscars just around the corner, we thought it would be good to give you a portal to see the movies that are nominated. These apps either allow you to stream movies there and then, or some work on a more subscription-based method, so you might be a little more limited as to what movies are available depending on the legality of your selected app.
The Oscars themselves take place on the 26th of February and there’s a whole wealth of movies up for nominations. Lion, Hacksaw Ridge and Hidden Figures are just a few of the many high-quality movies you should have sunk your teeth into by now.
Please note, some of the apps below might not be entirely legal depending on their usage, so use any of them at your own risk!
Kodi
Kodi is the next big thing on everybody’s lips. It’s been in and out of the news for one reason or another and primarily, if you use it in a certain way and install some plugins, it allows you to stream virtually any movie ever released. It’s versatile and innovative and we are in no way encouraging you to use it to watch anything at all….
VUDU Movies and TV
VUDU isn’t in as much of a grey area as Kodi, as although you can access media content at your fingertips, you’ll have to part with your money in order to buy or rent movies and TV shows. The app does contain a ton of content though so if you’re fed up of Netflix and want something with a different library, VUDU could be it.
Hulu: Watch TV & Stream Movies
Hulu Plus gives you access to the latest movies and TV shows, right in the palm of your hand. You’ll need to join a subscription with you and in return you’ll instantly get to watch your favorite shows and movies. It might not be ideal for watching some of the more recent Oscar nominated movies, but it will give you a window of opportunity to stream others.
MUBI – Stream & Download Films
MUBI is another app which offers you a varied and diverse library of movies and TV shows in return for a small monthly fee. There’s a lot of content available that stretches back to years gone by, as well as focusing on the more recent stuff too. MUBI is a great app for streaming and downloading movies, especially if Netflix has lost its charm with you.
Tubi TV – Free TV & Movies
Lastly we have Tubi TV. It’s completely free and allows you to watch content on an array of different devices. It’s compatible with your desktop, Android, Xbox etc and doesn’t cost a penny. It does sometimes lack the latest releases but it’s also completely legal and completely free.
