How to track your friends and family on your Android
Advancements in technology means being safer is a real possibility. Our smartphones can act not only as a way of communication, but also as a way of sending our location out if we are in trouble. They are also great tools for parents so they can make sure their child is safe. Due to this, naturally there are a lot of apps to choose from and that can get confusing.
We’ve had a look through the Play Store and have decided on 5 of the best apps for Android to help you track your friends and family should you ever need to. Take a look below and start ensuring your safety today.
Family Locator – GPS Tracker
First on our list is an app which is great for parents to use but also extends out to friends and family members that you’d like to keep updated on. You can create your own group of people within the app and track them in real-time. You can also get notified when the people you are tracking check into a certain location too. So if your child gets to school, you can notified of this. It also features a chat option too which is a great way of staying in touch.
Family Locator – Phone Tracker
Next we have the Sygic Family Locator. One of the best things about this app is that you can set up no-go zones. This basically means you can set the app to notify you if your child (or person you’re tracking) goes somewhere you’d rather they didn’t. This could be a dangerous part of the city you don’t want your child to go to or it could be a strip of bars where you’d rather your friend stopped going every night. It also has a built in SOS feature, which when pressed will give you their immediate location.
Find My Friends
Find My Friends utilizes Google Maps to ensure almost pin-point accuracy. It’s a great way of tracking someone in real-time and they can send out a distress signal if they are in trouble. This will notify you of their exact location immediately. The maps also display the nearest hospitals and police stations, so should your friends or family need help from someone and you can’t get there quickly, they can navigate their way to one of them.
Family Locator & GPS Tracker
Family Locator by ZoeMob is slightly different to the rest of the apps here. It has all of the tracking features that the others use, but it also has a couple of extra tools. You can set it to grant permissions to your children, for example they could request to keep using a certain app for longer. It can also tell you if the driver is speeding or driving safely, along with other planning tips that let you stay updated and organized.
Foursquare Swarm: Check In
Foursquare Swarm is last on our list. It’s a fun app that should appeal more to children and make them feel less like they are being monitored. It allows people with the app to challenge each other to earn points. It could be as simple as checking in when they arrive at school. The interaction aspect allows them to stay engaged and gives them an incentive to to use the app.
