Facebook continues to grow as we all go mobile
Facebook has phenomenally grown over the years but for some time now it has been naturally slowing down. Don’t make the mistake of thinking that Zuckerberg will take this lying down though. Facebook’s monthly active users has increased 3% each quarter and it is all thanks to the mobile market. We use our mobile smartphones and tablets for an increasing array of social interaction and Facebook is exploiting these new opportunities.
Facebook has 1.07 billion users and 399 million of these only access Facebook through their mobile devices, completely abandoning Facebook on the PC. This is an increase of over 80% compared with last years second quarter.
This is good news for the multi-million dollar company because Facebook has worked out how to successfully make vast amounts of money on the mobile social network, doubling its profit to $791 million.
It was only in 2012 that Facebook started to sell mobile advertising space. Doing so may have completely changed the face of our news feeds but it has also secured Facebook’s continued growth.
Facebook must be overjoyed by these recent figures showing clearly that we are preferring to do our social networking on the go, it begs the question; how long before Facebook goes entirely mobile?
