Use Facebook Messenger without a Facebook Account
You can use Facebook Messenger without a Facebook account! It is very possible. Before Facebook Messenger was released, people on Facebook would send and receive direct messages from within the Facebook app. After the release of Facebook Messenger, Facebook users were asked to install Facebook Messenger and link it with their Facebook accounts to access their direct messages from the Facebook app.
But there is more to the Facebook Messenger app than just being able to handle Facebook’s messages. Facebook Messenger is a fully functional messenger app that can function independently from the Facebook app. The Facebook Messenger app competes with other messenger apps like WhatsApp to send and receive text, voice, and video messages.
If you do not have a Facebook account or you recently deactivated your Facebook account, you can still use the Facebook Messenger app to chat with friends and family. To do this:
- Download and install Facebook Messenger on your phone
- Launch the app by tapping on its icon
- On the landing page, tap Create New Account
- On the next page that appears, enter your valid phone number inclusive of your country code and tap the NEXT button that appears on the bottom of the page
- Create a secure password for your new account and tap the NEXT button when done. A strong password includes a combination of alphanumerical and special characters
- On the next page that appears, enter your names and tap the NEXT button
- Tap the CREATE ACCOUNT button that appears on the bottom of the page that appears
- You will be asked to verify your phone number by entering a code that will be sent to your phone automatically via text
- Once verification is complete, you can now start using the Facebook Messenger app.
