You’ve heard about some amazing games or apps for Android and it is supposed to be amazing. So you search for it in the store but there is no install button. Instead you are met with the words ‘This item isn’t available in your country‘…
While those dreaded words can delay you, they certainly wont stop you from finding and installing your hearts desire, we just have to work a little harder that’s all. If this situation is something you can relate to then keep reading and learn how to download apps that are not available in your country.
A VPN, or Virtual Private Network, is simply a way to trick your device into thinking you are somewhere else in the world. They change your IP address from being in your country to the country you choose. A lot of people tend to browse using a VPN even if they are just planning on doing a quick Google Search of something as it also provides protection and safety while online. ( On an unrelated note, if you are doing a Google Search then try typing in ‘Do a barrel roll’…it’s the little things in life.)
Now there are a lot of VPN apps you can download from the PlayStore which will all pretty much do the job however some are better than others. Before you install any it’s worth reading some reviews and seeing what you get. Some might be riddled with ads whereas others might be very limited without a costly premium membership. If you’d rather not do the homework then we’ve got you covered. Check out this post to discover the best VPN apps for Android.
Once you’ve set up your VPN you’ll want to go to ‘Settings’ —> ‘Apps’ —> ‘Google Play Store’.
From there simply tap on ‘Clear cache‘ and then ‘Force Stop‘. Make sure you don’t press ‘Clear Data’ though. Now if your VPN is up and running then tap your icon to open the Play Store and agree to the terms and conditions, you are now viewing it from whichever country you set your VPN to.
Make sure you only download FREE apps this way. If you purchase a game or app through a VPN then Google will think you could be being hacked and start putting up the defenses to keep you safe.
