TikTok is a great social media platform where you can share short videos for other users to like and comment on. Apart from sharing social videos, corporate accounts and social media marketers use TikTok as a platform to advertise their products and services to potential clients on the platform.

If companies and organizations can use TikTok to market their products and services, is it possible then for individual TikTok users to make money via the platform? Yes, it is possible to make money on TikTok. In fact, many TikTok users have earned money on the platform over the years.

How do you make money on TikTok? Just like on other social media platforms like Instagram and YouTube, you need a great following and popularity to make money on TikTok. In a previous related article, we discussed how to get more followers and like on TikTok. Over the years, it has been observed that making money on Tiktok can be categorized into three forms:

In-Platform Monetization

TikTok has a resource called the Creator Fund which is a pool of money that the app distributes to some content creators using certain criteria. As a TikTok user, you can apply for the Creator Fund after you have had at least 10,000 followers, had over 100,000 views in 30 days, amongst other basic qualifications.

According to TikTok, several factors contribute to how the Creator Fund is calculated for each user. These factors may include video engagements, video views, and video adherence to TikTok’s Community Guidelines and Terms of Service.

Paid Partnerships and Sponsorships

As a very regular user on TikTok with many followers and engagements, you can be approached by corporates and business owners for you to market their products or services at an agreed fee. You can also be sponsored as the TikTok brand ambassador for various products or services in the market. Paid Partnership is the most common way that TikTok users make money on the platform.

Off Platform Sales/Marketing

As an influential TikTok user, you can earn money by redirecting your followers to other websites or online pages to view and purchase products or services from your/other companies. It would be through TikTok that people will visit the websites or apps that you will have directed them to.

As great as TikTok is for sharing social videos, talented and determined TikTok users can maximize opportunities on the platform to make extra money, and even as others have done in the past, make TikTok their main source of income.
