What is WhatsApp Call Link and How to Use it
WhatsApp in its new update has introduced a new call feature that allows users to prepare for group calls in advance. Just like in Google Meet or Zoom, the new WhatsApp Call link feature allows users to create call links that can be shared among potential participants.
WhatsApp users can now create call links for either voice or video calls. The created link can be sent to a maximum of 32 participants. The new WhatsApp Call Link feature allows each participant with the link to prepare in advance for the call.
However, if not well managed, the shared call links may pose privacy concerns. In case the links are shared with the wrong people, they may join the call and snoop into the conversation. This piece highlights how the WhatsApp call link feature can be used on WhatsApp. In a previous article, we discussed how to make WhatsApp voice and video calls from a PC.
To use the WhatsApp call link feature:
- Update your WhatsApp app to the latest version
- Launch WhatsApp by tapping on its icon
- While on the launch page, tap on the CALLS tab located at the top right side of the screen
- While on the CALLS page, tap the Create call link button that appears at the top
- You will be redirected to the link creation page where you will choose the Call type that you wish to create a link for i.e. video or audio
- A call link will be created automatically
- You can then send the link via WhatsApp to your WhatsApp contacts or copy the link and paste it into other platforms where your intended participants will be able to see
