As you may have noticed, many ads run on Facebook every day. Did you know that Facebook helps the various advertisers to reach their target audience? To achieve this, Facebook collects data from its users and matches it with the advertisers’ interests.

Your location, age, gender and interests on Facebook can be used to generate ads that might interest you. If you are not getting interesting ads or ads that you would prefer, you can change the ads you see on Facebook. Follow these simple steps below to learn how you could change the ads on your Facebook account.

Under Ad Preferences, click on Your interests to see all the categories that you have liked over time. You can add more categories that interest you or remove some categories that you do not prefer to get ads about

When you are done, click on Advertisers to see advertisers whose ads you’ve clicked before, advertisers that have provided Facebook with your info, and advertisers whose website or apps you’ve used. You can tap on the three dots that appear below each app to hide the ads that they display.

Next, you can tap on Your information to grant or deny Facebook the authority to show ads based on attributes such as your relationship status, employer, Job title or Education.

After those changes, tap on Ads Settings to grant or deny Facebook permission to show ads based on data from partners, your activities outside Facebook and your social actions

Lastly, you can click on Hide ad topics where you can choose to see fewer ads related to alcohol, parenting, and pets for a desired amount of time; either for 6 months, 1 year or permanently.
