Gmail exceeds one billion downloads
Gmail one of Google’s most famous apps, has exceeded one billion downloads in Google Play.
Even though the Android app store offers other interesting email apps, such as CloudMagic or Mailbox; Gmail is still the preferred email app for most people. There is no doubt that Gmail has become the most downloaded Android app from Google Play, this is thanks to the quality of the service offered. The numbers are proof enough; a billion is a substantial amount of downloads! That’s the equivalent to the population of China.
Despite the incredible number of downloads achieved by this app, it has been announced that Gmail will get an interface renewal, as Google is preparing a large redesign of all its Android apps. Google say that the redesign will go beyond a superficial revamp for its apps; they are proposing new functions as well as changes in services for Gmail, Calendar and Google+.
Those restless Mountain View guys are also working on changes to their Web services.
