WhatsApp Status: A new feature that will remind you of Snapchat Stories!
On any given day, WhatsApp users send and receive somewhere in the region of 60 BILLION messages. That’s in one day! So it’s no surprise that the Facebook-owned social giant is adding to its feature list with the addition of WhatsApp Status.
If you’re not sure what it is, but it sounds vaguely familiar, then it’s probably because Snapchat have a version themselves called Snapchat Stories. This allows users to set a “status” which involves media such as videos so that friends can get a snippet of somebodies day.
WhatsApp Status works very much in a similar way. Despite the fact that it has always had a status feature, this new addition is a lot more complex and creative. Whereas before you’d only be able to type a status, more often than not one to depict your availability, you’ll now be able to create something that is made up of photographs or/and videos.
It’s a further branch to the tree that never stops growing, and the success of WhatsApp as a social tool isn’t something anyone can question as the numbers speak for themselves.
If you’ve not got WhatsApp yet (then firstly, question who you are as it’s pretty strange not to have it) and then press the download link below to get it for your device. Annoyingly it isn’t compatible with tablets, although most people have smartphones anyway so this isn’t a huge obstacle…well and the fact there is a way to get it for your tablet anyway.
If you’re eager to use WhatsApp but you don’t have a smartphone, but you do own a nifty tablet that you’d like to use, then first go to your “Settings” and allow your device to install third-party apps. Then locate a WhatsApp apk file (a quick Google search will help you accomplish this) and then follow the instructions. Simple.
If you want to ensure your device stays safe then adjust your settings again and disable third-party app stores.
So what do you think? Is WhatsApp just trying to implement things for the sake of it, or do you feel WhatsApp Status could be a real gem that should have been realized months and months ago? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
