How to Hide WhatsApp Profile Picture and Status From One Person

With the ever-growing expanse that is technology and social media, there is always a seemingly present elephant lingering over us in the corner. Privacy.

Despite the precautions many companies take to protect our privacy; it’s certainly a subject up for debate due to the vast number of ways data is stored, processed and sent around. WhatsApp isn’t any different to this debate. While you can be sure of end-to-end encryption through your messages, anybody who is anybody can look at your profile picture.

But there is an easy fix! Read below to figure out how to hide your WhatsApp profile picture from somebody.

1) Open up WhatsApp (the most useful step of this list!)

2) Tap on the three dots in the top right-hand corner of the screen.

3) Navigate to “Settings” –> “Accounts” –> “Privacy”

4) Tap on “Profile Photo”.

From here you’ll get the option to adjust who can see your photo. The choices include everybody, nobody or just your contacts. As a general rule of thumb it’s probably best to select just your contacts however if there is someone in your contacts you don’t want to see your picture, there’s a trick available.

That trick is a good old fashioned delete contact. Unfortunately WhatsApp doesn’t provide you the option of specifying each individual contact to see your photo. You’ll have to open up your contacts list and delete the number of said contact. And just like that, they won’t be able to see your photo. They’ll still be able to contact you, you just won’t know the name of the contact.

From this same privacy screen you can also adjust who can see your status and when you were last online. It’s a nifty little place to go if you want to make yourself more hidden.
