How to turn off Last Active feature on Instagram
After Facebook purchased Instagram in 2012 for an astonishing $1 billion, it was an inevitable outcome that sooner or later a “Last Active” stamp would turn up. It was inevitable because Facebook created their messenger service which allows users to know when someone was last online, and the same feature appeared in communication giant WhatsApp (also owned by Facebook).
It isn’t necessarily a bad thing, and there have been times where even we’ve sat there getting more and more frustrated as the person we’re messaging has been online thirty times but hasn’t opened our message. But then we also like the fact we can turn this feature off. You can remove it from WhatsApp and we’re going to show you how to get rid of it from Instagram.
So the time stamps appear from the Direct Messages part of the app. It’ll show you a time stamp for when the last person you spoke to was online, and that means they’ll also have a time stamp for when you was last online. So how do you disable it?
Open up the app and head over to your profile. From there, tap on the “Settings” or cog icon in the corner. From there you’ll want to navigate through the options until you find one that says “Show Activity Status”. It will probably be activated by default. Simply toggle it off. This will prevent others from seeing when you were last active and will also prevent you from seeing when others were too.
That’s literally all there is to it.
Instagram
Instagram is one of the biggest social networking apps in the world and is unique in the fact that it doesn’t focus on statuses, it focuses on photography. It’s become a staple of the modern generation and the fact it is owned by Facebook only adds to the social implementations which are occurring (such as direct messages). If you’re an avid photographer, Instagram is where you need to be.
