How to enable hidden features on WhatsApp for Android
WhatsApp isn’t a stranger to our articles – because it’s just so fantastic that we love to talk about it. As good as the communications app is, there’s always room for improvement. That’s why the team behind WhatsApp are regularly adding new features and updates to ensure it stays current and wonderful.
You might not be aware though that you can actually access hidden features in WhatsApp and access some new things that most people don’t even know about until an official update it released. How do you do it? Very easily.
The first thing you’ll want to do is make sure that you have both the latest version of WhatsApp installed on your device and also an app called WA Tweaks. You can download both from the bottom of this post.
MUST HAVE: Your device must have root permissions for this to work. If you’re device isn’t rooted then you’ll need an app called Xposed Module).
What To Do
Once you have met the criteria above, you’ll want to open and star WA Tweaks.
- It will request admin permissions. This will happen through whichever root management tool you installed when you rooted your device.
- Activate Airplane mode. This will limit the Internet access that your device gets.
- Open your “Settings” from the main menu and then go to —> “Applications” —> “WhatsApp”.
- Tap on “Force Close”. This will log off your current WhatsApp session.
You might find the process to find WhatsApp in your settings is slightly different as it varies from device and Android version, however it’s practically identical in most cases.
Once you’ve completed those steps, open up WA Tweaks again and you’ll be shown all of the different features that are now obtainable to you. Activate the ones that you want to experiment with and try out and then simply open WhatsApp and turn off Airplane Mode.
