Check if your Facebook Account has been Hacked
In case you’ve been living under a rock somewhere, a month or so ago several million Facebook accounts were hacked. OK, when I say ‘several million’ I’m not really painting an accurate picture of what happened. The ‘several million’ is really more like 50 million (Facebook later lowered it to 29 million). Yeah, that’s a lot of accounts and they still aren’t sure how the hackers did it.
Fortunately, there’s a super easy way to find out if your Facebook account has been affected and that’s what we’re going to cover today. I’m going to show you how to find out – in just a few seconds – if your Facebook account has been compromised. Are you ready? Let’s get started.
How to find out if your Facebook account has been hacked
- Log in to Facebook.
- Click on the question mark in the upper right corner.
- Go to the Help area.
- Scroll down to read the message about the hacking.
If your Facebook account has not been hacked you will see this message:
If your Facebook account was hacked you’ll see information alerting you to the hacking and a description of what exactly the hackers accessed. You should also see some information about this on your Home page.
Fortunately, Facebook has now closed the breach that allowed the hackers to access the accounts. However, things could change so it pays to be cautious.
I hope you found this short tutorial helpful. Were you able to find out if your Facebook account was hacked? Leave me a message in the comments!
