WhatsApp will Stop Working on some Android Phones – Find Out if you’re Affected!
WhatsApp is one of the commonly used instant messaging apps with over 1 billion active users across the globe. WhatsApp allows users to send and receive texts, images, videos, audios, contacts, locations, and documents via an Internet connection. Not using WhatsApp even for a day would be unbearable to most people.
The Facebook-owned application has recently shocked the world as it announced that the app will stop working in some Android phones after February 2020. According to its updated FAQs, WhatsApp will not be supported on phones that run on Android 2.3.7 and below as from February 1, 2020.
When the notice is effected, the users of phones that run on Android 2.3.7 and below will no longer create new accounts or re-verify existing accounts. Also, since WhatsApp no longer actively develop apps for devices that operate on Android 2.3.7 and below, some WhatsApp features in such devices might stop working at any time.
The decision by WhatsApp to end support for the mentioned Android devices will not affect many users since most phones today run on newer versions of Android. Only users with very old Android phones will be affected when the stoppage of service will be implemented. WhatsApp recommends that people should use phones that support Android 4.0.3 and newer versions to avoid being affected by the ban.
