How to Listen to WhatsApp Audio Messages in Secret

One of WhatsApp’s most used features is the audio messages. Many people are increasingly sending each other audio messages rather than traditional texts. Recording and sending audio messages is faster and convenient especially when you are engaged in other activities.

To listen to the audio messages that have been sent to you, just tap the play button next to the message and the audio message will play through your phone’s speaker. However, you may receive an audio message that you wish to listen to secretly.

If you don’t have your earphones with you, listening to your audio messages in secret may be difficult. Not to worry though, this piece discusses other ways that you could listen to your audio messages in secret.

For various reasons, you might not want people to know that you have listened to the WhatsApp audio messages that they have sent you. Apart from disabling the “blue ticks” from all messages, there are other ways to ensure that you listen to your messages in secret.

Forwarding the Audio Message to Yourself

You can forward the unread message to yourself and listen to it without the knowledge of the sender. To do this:

  • Go back to the chat with the unread audio message and long-press the message
  • On the menu that appears on the top of the screen, tap the Forward button
  • Search the group you created as a notepad and tap the send button
  • Tap the play button from the group and listen to your audio message
