How to Save WhatsApp or Instagram photos to Google Photos
We live in a world where we are constantly taking photographs of people, landscapes…memories, and with this imagery we usually use Instagram or WhatsApp as our outlet of choice to set them free on the world. Our ability to be social isn’t limited to a single application however, so it’s useful to understand how we can save WhatsApp or Instagram photos to Google Photos.
Usually, every photo that we take with the camera on our device is automatically saved and backed up to the Cloud, or Google Photos, so that we never have the chance to lose it. That isn’t true with images we might have received from friends and family on WhatsApp, or with images we’ve saved from Instagram.
So how do we get this safe and sound on our Google Photos account? It’s pretty simple really. So by default we know that photos are saved to Google Photos if we take them ourselves. This is because of the destination folder our photos go into. For example, WhatsApp has it’s own dedicated folder where photos, media, documents etc gets stored. It is the same for Instagram.
If we wish to store or save these to Google Photos and put them into the invisible giant we know as the cloud, we first have to open up the “Settings” menu from the side menu in Google Photos. From there you’ll receive several options, one of which will be “Backup and synchronization”. We can then select to create backups of all, or specific, folders on our device. We just need to select the folders we want and the backups will be made. This will of course save and upload every single photo or video to your Google Photos.
